The Client
One of America's top mortgage lenders with over 100 offices nationwide, servicing over $12 billion of residential loans

The Challenge

For several years, the IT department for this Indiana-based mortgage company had been under pressure to accommodate the business needs for consistent, enterprise-wide information in a precise and timely manner.

The company supported seven different reporting systems to facilitate analysis within various departments. These systems received data from the company's loan origination and processing systems. Due to latency issues and inconsistent business definitions between systems, users were often presented with different results for the same business question. This raised concerns as to how well the client understood the company's business and position in the marketplace.

The Haverstick Approach

Initially, it was important to create a consistent set of business rules and definitions to be adopted across the organization. With this foundation in place, Haverstick assisted with the product selection for the ETL, data modeling, and Business Intelligence technologies. Next, the components of the solution were designed and constructed. Haverstick led the modeling of the staging area, data warehouse, and all associated data marts. Finally, the various data extraction/loading modules were developed along with the end-user reporting interface.

An enterprise-wide data warehouse was key to providing a single, consolidated source of data on which strategic business decisions could be made.

The Result
The client now has a Business Intelligence solution that has not only freed up valuable system and personnel resources, but can identify potential cases of fraud, data integrity issues, and provide insight into new aspects of the business.
