Haverstick helps university manage event schedules
The Client A major university in the Miami Ohio Valley area
The Challenge Our client had a large number of departments and organizations attempting to schedule and promote events both on and off campus. Calendars were maintained by staff, departmental faculty, organization members and others using a wide array of calendar tools. Publicizing campus events was difficult and far from centralized.
The Haverstick Approach Haverstick’s development team met with representatives of key departments and organizations to get a functional description of the problem and to develop a first draft of the system requirements. Prototype of the system was developed and presented at their next committee meeting. Additional enhancements and modifications were fielded within the original application scope. An iterative rapid application development process ensued during which the features were fine-tuned and polished.
The completed application provides central administrative capabilities while smoothly integrating with existing notes Calendaring and scheduling capabilities. Members of the campus community can create events and add upcoming events to their personal calendars. Members of the off-campus community can see selected upcoming events, allowing them to plan accordingly. Featured events can be highlighted and displayed for all to see.
The Result The university’s new campus calendar application is installed and ready for use during the next academic calendar year. Widespread acceptance has already been demonstrated through the large number of events scheduled for the first semester. |
