The Client A global provider of integrated automotive systems
The Challenge This company’s IT group supports approximately 10,000 users around the world. Haverstick Consulting was engaged to consolidate former client sites in North America into a single domain and deploy Microsoft Management Server to those locations. After a merger in 2000, Haverstick Consulting was asked to architect the migration of Lotus Notes mail being used at one company to Microsoft Exchange. Also, to bring all sites into a common Windows 2000 Active Directory environment.
The Haverstick Approach Haverstick Consulting engineers put in place standardized, well-tested procedures for the site migration. This would allow individual sites to be migrated to a single NT domain in just one evening, causing very little business disruption. SMS deployment was to be managed from the client’s corporate data center. For the Lotus Notes migration, Haverstick Consulting put together standardized procedures and tested them through a small set of pilot users.
Haverstick Consulting deployed its recommended solutions in a way that helped the new company, formed by the merger, integrate its operations while creating minimal disruption and downtime.
The Result The client was able to achieve increased efficiency in its IT department. The consolidated IT domain greatly simplified information-sharing and software access, and the other initiatives have helped employees work more efficiently across the corporation. |
