Haverstick helps vocational school district manage Web content and course catalogs
The Client A vocational school district
The Challenge The client needed a new way to manage its Web site. The content consisted of both brochure-type information, course-related content, and scheduling information. The district had several people responsible for different parts of its site, but no way to easily maintain it, check it, or keep it fresh.
The Haverstick Approach Haverstick worked with various members of the client’s project team to identify requirements and goals. The team members included content contributors, network engineers, a project manager, and a project sponsor. We outlined current requirements and future possibilities including scalability, expected traffic, and planning of possible future projects.
The Solution Based on the budget, scope and time frame, we decided to implement a custom solution that would offer them both content management and course catalog management. Using the browser-based tools we would provide, various content contributors could add content into their parts of the Web site and course catalog knowing little or no HTML. The catalog system could then be connected in the future to their iSeries-based course registration systems for online course registration.
The Result Haverstick’s custom solution allowed the district to implement a new design, delegate the authoring responsibilities and permissions, and minimize the overall effort involved to keep their course catalog and content timely. |
